Membership Report:
Joyce LeMay, introduced herself as membership director, is working with Pam Green and Martha Ramirez, and
they have been a great resource. Her goal is to work with SHRM to achieve membership goals for State
Council.
Regional Report:
Pam Greene, Regional Director reported. Membership is a huge push for SHRM. There are 21,000 HR professionals in MN according
to Census Bureau. SHRM is looking where they can grow the fastest. Purchased Map Quest software. The 2005 Census Bureau
information included a lot of people that considered themselves HR; SHRM went on to focus on purely HR Professionals. North
Central SHRM is the biggest region as far as chapter numbers go, not in number of members, but in terms of numbers of
chapters. Looking at opportunities: asking non-affiliated members to join, offering other services to members at state
council meetings, chapters could offer a free chapter meeting, think about having a mentor to sit with the new person. SHRM
will hold a conference call for non-affiliated SHRM members to introduce them to chapters. The North Central SHRM Regional
team is focusing on the Twin cities regional for growth opportunities. SHRM is also willing to work with chapters to help
grow membership. SHRM also has financial incentive for state councils to increase membership. Pam handed out cards for a
$15.00 discounts for new SHRM memberships.
State Conference Committee Report:
Lynne Ahles reported. Sheri Sweere has been doing a lot of work. Postcards will be going out at the end of the month. This
year we are using PayPal. Lynne did test on the PayPal, she asked for a drop down menu for a list of chapters, and a space
for PHR/SPHR certification information. Some on-line registration issues, and are being worked on.
Leadership Conference Update:
Reviewed the feedback from the Leadership Conference on-line survey. Lori was way under budget. Total cost $6,256.63, budget
was $7,000.00. The 2008 Leadership will be in May at Arrowood Resort in Alexandria, MN.
Legislative Update:
Larry Bourgerie. HR Voice 55% were at large SHRM. mostly at large. Hot topics for HR Voice were immigration, Employee Free
Choice, FMLA. Both State and National legislative session is off now until fall. Larry will submit quarterly legislative
updates for the State Council website.
Foundation Update:
Vicky will distribute raffle tickets to each chapter. Chapters will be given tickets, 50 or more depending on the size of the
Chapter. Chapter presidents should determine how many tickets. She will also follow-up with chapter presidents. We are
looking for 100% participation for the foundation baskets from each chapter. Discussion on responsibility of baskets for
winner that are not present. Asking that the chapter is responsible for taking the basket, and getting it to the winner.
Chapters will now receive foundation donation credit for the baskets. Foundation basket tickets are going up to $5.00 per
ticket. Asking Chapters to sell tickets to their members.

Website.

|
National Conference Update:
|

Discussion on meeting location, time and options. We only have 3 separate meetings outside of Leadership and the State
Conference. The State Council wants state council member's needs to be heard. Some discussion on contributing reports to the
