Foundation Update

What is the SHRM Foundation?

The SHRM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organizational affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Founded in 1966, the Foundation funds research, publications and a wide range of educational initiatives to advance the profession and enhance the effectiveness of HR professionals. With assets of more than $7 million, the SHRM Foundation promotes innovation, education, research and the use of research-based knowledge. A volunteer board of HR practitioners, academics and SHRM representatives governs the Foundation. All contributions are tax deductible.

From your Minnesota Foundation Director:

Our goal in Minnesota is 100% Chapter participation in raising funds for the SHRM Foundation! This can be accomplished a couple of ways. Each Chapter is encouraged to make a Foundation Donation on a yearly basis. Plus we offer Chapters the opportunity to provide a "basket" at our SHRM Conference each fall. We sell tickets for those baskets. In 2007 that amount will be credited to each Chapter as a Foundation Donation.

Your local benefit from the Foundation: educational materials, members may apply for Scholarships to help off set the cost of attaining GPHR, SPHR, PHR certification. Chapters can also apply for scholarships.

If you have questions about the Foundation, please contact me.
